  • inertia: Property that bodies have of not modifying by themselves their state of rest or movement. Lack of action, lack of activity.
  • impulse: Movement communicated to a body.
  • interaction: reciprocal action of two or more bodies on each other. Updating the reciprocal influence of interrelated organisms.
  • ionosphere: A high atmosphere layer, 50 to 200 km from Earth, containing electrically charged free particles, through which radio waves are transmitted over great distances around the Earth.
  • interference: Meeting of two wave systems. Decrease of light that occurs when the light rays or two slanting light beams meet at a small angle. Effect produced on a receiver by waves or electric fields that produce noise or other signals on reception.
  • induction: Act or effect of inducing. Formation or variation of an electric or magnetic field by the creation or variation of another neighboring electric or magnetic field.
  • inductance: Property of an electrical circuit by which an electromotive force is induced in it by varying the current intensity: a) in the circuit itself; b) a neighboring circuit.
  • magnet: Magnetized steel piece which has the property of attracting iron and some other metals; magnet. Quality of what it attracts. Thing that attracts.
  • ion: Positive or negative electrically charged particle, the size of an atom or molecule, which results from the loss or gain of one or more electrons by a neutral atom or molecule, or from electrolytic dissociation of molecules into solutions due to temperature variation. Electron detachment requires the addition of energy either by radiation or shock or by high temperatures.
  • slope: Deviation from perpendicular direction.
  • isobaric: Which has the same pressure during every step of a process.
  • isochoric: Which has same volume during all steps of a process.
  • isometric: Which has same dimensions during all steps of a process.
  • isotherm: Curve depicting an isothermal transformation in a pressure-to-volume diagram.
  • isothermal: Which has the same temperature during all steps of a process.
